HOW TO GET BAHIA?

From Quito,  take an inter- province bus , we recommend The Reina del Camino Transport Cooperative, there are two regular economy runs, the first one at 10:30 h and the second at 23:30 h. If you look for a safer and more comfortable trip, there are two executive services per day with  air conditioning and it is almost non stop from Quito to Bahia de Caráquez. This bus leaves at 12:50 am. and 11:45 pm. In both services the normal routes follow the itinerary Quito-Aloag-Santo Domingo-El Carmen-Chone-Tosagua-Bahia. The bus trip takes 8 hours on average. There is also a bus service that covers the route Quito - San Vicente that leaves at 22:30 h., in this case you will have to take a panga (it bounces) from San Vicente for 5 minutes until Bahia. Don´t forget to take a sweater with you on the bus as the air conditioning can get very cold.
From Guayaquil  go to the Bus Terminal where you will find the Cooperativa Reina del Camino. There are six executive services 8:30 am, 1:30 am 2:20 pm  4:40 pm, 7:00 pm, 11:30pm; and  two regular services 5.35am, 9pm. The trip takes about six hours.

Getting to Bahia by air:

At the moment, there are no available flights to the airport Los Perales in San Vicente (city located across the bay from Bahía). However there is an alternative way to avoid to travel by bus so many kilometers, the most practical way is to take a flights that offers the companies TAME or ICARO to Puerto Viejo or Manta . Then you may travel the rest of the distance by taxi or bus. These are the current times for flights, but don™t forget this schedule always is subject to change:
When you are in Manta you will need to rent a taxi, it cost is about $ 30 and the trip takes one hour and a half. If you decide to go by land, you need to go to take a taxi to the bus station and to take a bus toward Bahía de Caráquez. (We suggest you take a taxi instead).
