The wetlands at times are flooded lands, where floating vegetation has adapted to live in these circumstances. You will watch hundreds of aquatic birds living and feeding and resting there, some of the birds, are migratory birds from the northern hemisphere, they fly thousand of kilometers during the winter northern hemisphere to   feed  on these resources and searching for places to rest in South America.
They have registered 164 species of birds distributed in 44 birds families, at least 63 species are aquatic birds, the rest are non-aquatic birds associated to this ecosystem. The site is visited year by year by migratory birds; some of the birds use the wetlands for courtship and nesting. Some of the birds are residents the all the  year round as for example the egrets and herons.
